![]() Pornography, adultery, homosexuality, etc. will never satisfy us, ever. The pornography industry makes its billions on customer dissatisfaction, and if we stay trapped there we'll always have a continual lust for more. It's like salt water, giving more thirst than satisfaction. Pornography, in its initial allurement, promises to quench our thirst. It promises satisfaction. And honestly, it does satisfy—but only for a short time. Soon we discover that we are "thirsty" again and, as the years go by, we find that we are never genuinely satisfied. -Setting Captives Free "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. 2 Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. 3 Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David." Isaiah 55:1-3 "Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more." — Ephesians 4:19 "Death and destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man." (Proverbs 27:20) "My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns [Note: cisterns are designed for water storage] that cannot hold water." — Jeremiah 2:13 You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. Psalm 90:8 "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.' Then you will defile your idols overlaid with silver and your images covered with gold; you will throw them away like a menstrual cloth and say to them, 'Away with you!'" Isaiah 30:21,22 "Men are in a restless pursuit after satisfaction in earthly things. They will exhaust themselves in the deceitful delights of sin, and, finding them all to be vanity and emptiness, they will become very perplexed and disappointed. But they will continue their fruitless search. Though wearied, they still stagger forward under the influence of spiritual madness, and though there is no result to be reached except that of everlasting disappointment, yet they press forward. They have no forethought for their eternal state; the present hour absorbs them. They turn to another and another of earth's broken cisterns, hoping to find water where not a drop was ever discovered yet." -Charles Spurgeon "Madness! What a perfect description of my relentless pursuit that the next image will be the one that will satisfy. As the hours slip away and my eyes grow heavy with sleep, I cannot stop. It's a never-ending cycle. What madness, indeed!" -Paul, a captive set free! "None but God can satisfy the longings of an immortal soul; that as the heart was made for Him, so He only can fill it." — Richard C. Trench
